Spirit of Adventure Year 10 Trophy Voyage

Chris Risbridger —

16th to 21st June 2019 - Ten students, one teacher, three other schools and an awesome adventure

This year's Spirit of Adventure Trophy Voyage students were Anna Christensen, Finlay Clark, Hailey Clark, Caleb Forsythe, Libby Gillespie, Harrison Morrison, Cole Stevens, Tyler Thompson, Paulette Tukua and Bianca Youl. Accompanied by Mr Addison, they set off up to Auckland for a five day voyage on board the tall ship, Spirit of New Zealand. After three bake sales, two sausage sizzles, a quiz night and silent auction, they were well and truly ready for an adventure.

Departing from Auckland, they spent their time in the Hauraki Gulf, including getting across to the Coromandel Peninsula for a couple of days too. On board, there was a competition among the three schools for the voyage trophy. Activities were as varied as knot tying, sail raising, raft paddling, flag creating, walks and beach games ashore, and even a swim with some dolphins. Although the competition side of things didn't go so well, plenty of fun was had and new friends made along the way.
All the students involved enjoyed their experience  and would thoroughly recommend it to any students interested in taking part.
We would also like to thank our sponsors:

Taylor's Construction for the team hoodies
