Junior Performance Choir

Indiana Rose McKinnon —

Junior Performance Choir is a junior non-audition ensemble with students from years nine and ten.

This choir has about 25 members which has a variety in skill level. The choir is conducted by Charlotte Ensor. JPC (Junior Performance Choir) has participated in many different events this year like Big Sing, North West Festival and Burnside Voices. The Choir has had lots of fun singing a different range of pieces throughout the year. They have sung a musical theatre piece ‘Nicest Kids in Town’ from the musical Hairspray. They have also performed the choral piece ‘Angles Carol’ by John Rutter, which shows the different range of music this choir enjoys. Although these two pieces were loved by the choir, their all time favourite piece to perform is 'Chantez Alleluia!' by Dave and Jean Perry. This is an upbeat and fun piece which JPC has enjoyed performing throughout the end of 2023.

As an alto singer in the Choir I have always enjoyed singing with the wonderful students that make up the choir. Singing many pieces with the choir this year has been an experience I will never forget. There were many people who made the experience of singing with JPC enjoyable but the main person who brought fun and joy to the choir was our choir's conductor Charlotte Ensor. Miss Ensor accomplished the challenge of getting many students to sing together and have fun doing it. Miss Ensor always made sure that even though performing to the best of our abilities was important, the main goal was to have fun. This year has been so much fun for those who were in JPC and I hope that everyone who had the opportunity to listen to us perform, enjoyed it as much as the choir did.
