Burnside students have been excelling in Athletics this term. Three Athletics events were held this term.

The first Athletics meet of the year was the Burnside High School Athletics Sports.

Special congratulations to the 3 students who broke records in the course of the competition:
Mark Chang (12NLOD) - U16 Boys Javelin; Mark threw a massive 43.78m breaking the previous record (set in 2015) by a whopping 3.07m. 

Anahera Leo'o (9WJCC) - U14 Girls Shotput; Anahera broke the record with a throw of 9.15m breaking the previous record of 9.04m set in 2019.

Raghav Bhutani (10WWAJ) - U15 Boys Discus; Raghev threw 32.82m to break the record of 32.13 set back in 2013.

From our school competition, we moved on to the Canterbury Secondary Schools Athletics, held at Nga Puna Wai on March 16 and March 20

And then to the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships at Nga Puna Wai on Friday 09 and Saturday 10 April.

Once again we were very proud of our athletes. It was a very, very windy South Island Secondary Schools Athletics. There were challenging conditions for those competing. 

Only one South Island Title for Burnside High School but some great performances.

Olivia Watt 11SCTH is the South Island Secondary School Under 16 Pole Vault Champion.
