From the pieces of the Berlin Wall in Christchurch to Bremen, Germany
Two students from Year 12 German class gained scholarships to attend a 3- week language and cultural course at the Goethe-Institut in Bremen, Germany. Their wonderful experiences are summarised in this article.
"The time I spent in Bremen will stick with me forever! Not only did I make amazing lifelong friends from around the world, I also learned the most German I ever have there through immersion, and fun engaging lessons. Being there also helped me to become a more confident person - not only in using German but also in everyday life! Ich kann diesen Kurs nicht genug empfehlen!!"

"I will never forget the time I spent in Bremen, Germany. It was the most amazing three weeks of my life. I have made friends from all over the world whom I still keep in touch with, learnt more German there than I ever have before due to the immersion into German culture, and made some unforgettable memories that I will always carry with me. It is not just about learning the language, but about experiencing German culture through the language, food, and the people we meet, and it has truly been a great experience! This course has also given me the opportunity to take the B1 Goethe exam, and with the German classes and resources provided, I was able to successfully receive the B1 certificate. The classes were really fun and engaging and I always looked forward to them. The activities we did in our free time included sports, exploring the city as well as a range of indoor games. This course helped me become more independent as a person and the lessons I learnt there will be with me lifelong. If this passage hasn’t convinced you to take the course, then I don’t know what will!”
