Burnside High School Pasifika Students Receive Recognition at the SPACPAC Pasifika Supreme Awards Night

On the evening of the 6th of March, top-achieving Pasifika students from secondary schools around Christchurch gathered to celebrate academic excellence at Te Arati College at the Christchurch sPACIFICally Supreme Awards night.

Burnside High School Students Dilkee Nanayakkara, Eleana Siwatibau and Leilani Amataiti received academic awards for their outstanding Level 2 NCEA results. Dilkee and Leilani also received a special mention for their leadership positions as Pasifika leaders at Burnside High School.

The annual celebration commemorates the academic success of secondary Pasifika students and acts to inspire Pasifika students as well as celebrate Pasifika identity, language, culture and achievement.

Dilkee described the evening as a nice way of “recognising Pasifika students’ achievements by shining some light on them.” She also says it “was cool because we got to see people from heaps of other schools as well, not just our own one.”

Congratulations to Dilkee, Eleana and Leilani for their excellent academic achievements.
