Despite bouldering becoming a very popular sport for students, it is actually not covered by any of our insurance providers.

If a student were to injure themselves while bouldering, their immediate medical care and associated costs will be covered by the New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). However, any delayed care or follow-up procedures would not be covered by one's private travel insurance. This brings us to recommend that students do not boulder in their personal time as the risk (financial) is too great. Some international travel companies may cover students while bouldering but this would required students to purchase their own policy from abroad, before coming to New Zealand.
