South Island Secondary Schools Swimming: Moana Pool, Dunedin, 17-19 June, 2022

William Boyd —

Top School at this event in all categories including the award for having the best male and female relays.

We had very few disappointments or in swimming terms, disqualifications, and many successes including personal bests and medals. The number of medals is outstanding and that would be an understatement. The swim team was awarded the best co-educational team and the school with the best overall male and female relay teams in the South Island. What is most heartening is everyone came away with at least one medal for their efforts. I hope you enjoy analysing the result table as much as I enjoyed preparing it. 128 medals and 3 trophies is an unbelievable result for our swim team in what would be the most successful team our school has ever had. Hard fought races for our best medley and freestyle swimmers in the SKINS and Elimination races competed for money not medals. Standouts in the senior girls section had to be Josiane Hill, Maddy Horton with 11 medals each. Stacey Morgan the best of the junior girls with Ava Renner displaying a great deal of improvement and promise. Woojin Song competed well in the Senior Boys section, but our Junior Boys group is the envy of all schools. Hamish Inwood, Hamish Giddens, Harry Renner, Daniel Streletsky, Cameron Long, Luke McCallum. A very talented group with a great spread of individual strengths. These fine young men spent more time competing among themselves than with other schools. Twice our school featured 123 on the dias. Our new swim training top was thanks to the PTA . When the uniform looks good so do the photos. Congratulations to the team and I hope you look at these results in the years to come with pride that you were part of something greater than you thought possible.
