Aurora Voices

Shaé Robinet —

Aurora Voices (AV) is the junior auditioned choir we have at school which consists of twenty five year nine and ten students directed by Sue Densem, with the help of our student conductor Elle Ilkiw, our student accompanist Kate Ramsay, and Lois Johnston who takes care of the SMP (specialist music program) voice section.

This year AV (Aurora Voices) has sung at many different events like North West Festival, Burnside Voices, and The Big Sing. Throughout these events we have sung many different choral pieces and have recently even sung a musical theatre piece called “All That Jazz” from the musical Chicago.

A good memory from AV this year was learning and performing the dance moves to this piece. We performed this dance in the Junior Showcase that Burnside High School hosts. I enjoyed learning new songs, and learning how to sing them with this amazing group.

This year AV has proudly won two awards at the Big Sing, those are "outstanding recital performed by a junior choir” and “outstanding recital by a treble voice choir”. Being in AV has given students the chance to develop their teamwork skills in singing and help learn new singing techniques.

From the AV family we just want to say one final thanks again to everyone who has made this year possible whether it is staff or just friends and family who have come to watch us. Thank you for your support.
