Social Sciences' Social Action Project
BHS Values in action
As part of their Social Action project in Social Sciences, three Year 9 students—Maple Pateman, Emmy Sandford, and Lena Singh—raised over $160 to support the Christchurch Aunties. The students took the initiative to approach New World and successfully secured a $50 grocery voucher, which they raffled off by selling tickets in their local community. At the end of Term 4, Rebecca from Christchurch Aunties visited Burnside High School to accept the donation on behalf of the charity. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the students, commending their efforts and sharing that the funds would go towards purchasing school supplies for "return-to-school" bags being prepared for underprivileged students.
