Stage Challenge 2017 OPEN

Stacey Boyle —

Stage Challenge 2017 was an amazing experience in which all of the leaders and cast learned team building and independence skills.

Our theme this year was exploring the ideas of overfishing and how it is destroying New Zealand’s environments with plastic and oil. Our team this year had four amazing choreographers and teachers, Ciara Mcginn, Jaime Turner, Maddy Scott and Lachlan Inwood and our team producer was Jasmine Worsley. We worked with our costume designer Jackson Lam-Sheng and our creative team member Lauryn Sinclair to pull together the visual effects of our piece. With the incredible help of our technical team we were given amazing lighting, props and set design to work with.

The relevance of our ideas to society was a strong motivation towards our theme this year. We wanted something that was relatable and relevant to the world as well as New Zealand and Burnside High School.

Our team placed second overall in the regional Stage Challenge competition and received a variety of awards given to the team, leaders and technical crew. These awards included Excellence in Drama,Excellence in Performance Skill,Excellence in Visual Enhancement,Excellence in Choreography,Excellence for Soundtrack,Excellence for Lighting Design, Excellence for Concept, and Excellence for Costuming Character.
