BADMINTON

Congratulations to Jeremiah Manickam 12SWRK who recently competed at the Canterbury Open U19 Championships. As this was an Open event, there were players competing from all round the country. Jeremiah won three golds at this event - the Singles, Boys Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

NZSS RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

The New Zealand Secondary Schools Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were held in Auckland, 29 & 30 May. Congratulations to Elle Ilkiw 11WMRI and Paris Chin 12WWIC who competed at this event. Elle placed 4th in the Level 9 competition and Paris placed 2nd in the Senior International Girls division, which is the highest level of competition at a secondary school level.

UNDERWATER HOCKEY

Thanks to one of our very dedicated Teacher Aides, Alexa Reid, we have now have a newly formed Underwater Hockey team here at Burnside High School. The team competed in their first tournament, the South Island Club Championships at Jellie Park, at the end of May. The team played really well and learnt a lot playing more experienced teams. They placed 4th in the C Grade.
