Korfball

Michelle Tapp and Sam Coldicott —

Korfball at Burnside High is continuing to grow in popularity. It is a fun, fast-paced mixed gender ball sport.

This year we have been pleased to see the sport keep growing in interest with over 40 keen students signing up this year. Numerous players have progressed their Korfball ability through competing in the weekly High School League held at the Bishopdale YMCA. With such great numbers, we had three teams entered in Term 1 and currently have three teams entered in Term 4.

The South Island Secondary Schools' tournament is always a great highlight of the season, where multiple teams compete over a weekend. Although we had a rough start, we finished the second day undefeated and overall, out of 23 teams, we placed 7th.

Thank you to all those who have participated in this year's season. It has been great to see so many dedicated players involved in Korfball. All our past and present players agree it's a great new social sport to get involved in, and we hope to see many new faces sign up next year!
