Burnside enters the New Zealand Programming Contest

Steven Rodkiss —

The top programming contest for High Schools and Universities in New Zealand

Burnside entered three teams into the New Zealand Programming Contest this year. Team Steve# placed fourth overall, the highest rank of any school in the South Island, but couldn’t compete with the outstanding performances of Rangitoto College (2nd and 3rd) and Mount Albert Grammar School (1st). Congratulations to Jack Zhang, Tim Fisher-Taylor and Cole Stevens for their outstanding performance in a really tough competition.

Burnside’s other team, Team 328 with Grady Kenix and Misha Pavlov managed to come 2nd in the South Island, with a final position of 7th overall.

Levi Donaldson entered his first competition this year as a year 11 and managed to answer two questions. While he would have loved to rank higher than 33rd, his overall score placed him above nine other teams, five of whom were in the University category.

Great effort to all those involved and we look forward to building up the team numbers again next year as we look forward to 2023.
