Aurora Voices is a Junior auditioned choir for treble, singing a variety of genres with Gospel pieces as the main hit for this year. In 2022 we have 32 members in the choir directed by Mrs Emma Summers. Rehearsals are held during Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes, getting exquisite practice to showcase our work during the many concerts we performed at this year.

It was very much a pleasure competing and performing at The Big Sing for our first concert of the year in June. We received two awards, the best-performing Junior Choir and earning the title of Best Student Accompanist, accomplished by Aaron Zheng. Other concerts we performed at were Choral Showcase and Burnside Voices, held at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral.

Throughout the year we’ve had many soloists, voices and instrumentals in our pieces. We had the featuring of Seika Harada, performing Wedding Day on the Cello, and Ottilie Faloon-Cavander, also on Cello in Under Winter Moon. I, Robbie de-Groot Tsuji, Coco Morizono, Romy Smith and Ava Mackay sing solo’s in You Raise Me Up.

Aurora Voices is an exceptional group to be part of because of our lovely conductor, Emma Summers. She’s made mine and everyone else’s experience in the choir this year something to remember made the choir sound so joyous and thrilling and made it fun to be part of. A huge thank you to her! There are many memories which stand out to me in the choir this year, but for me personally, it was singing a solo alongside Robbie de-Groot Tsuji in ‘You Raise Me Up.’ The incredible acoustics inside St Mary’s Church made our sound project to great heights. Being the alto section leader and deputy accompanist, the experiences I’ve gained is something which will continue with me for years to come.

Aurora Voices is a group to develop, learn and have fun times. The commitment really pays off, and the staff are supportive and make the best effort possible to make the choir the best it can be. Thanks to everyone for making my time in the choir unforgettable!
