What a year for the BHS girls football! Nominated as a team of the year and top South Island team again at Nationals!

It was a great season for the girls with only one loss. The final against Saint Andrews College just showed the inclusive culture and improvements made throughout the season. With 4 players coming back from a P.E trip that day and a few others struggling with niggles we all had to dig deep to beat the previous winners. And dig deep we sure did! Everyone worked so hard to gain the result and with Jenny Merkin wearing her scoring boots a 4-0 win is what we got!

The National tournament, however, was a bit of a different story. We started off the tournament with a tough defeat. We picked ourselves up after the loss and went on to place 20th. Even though the placing was not what we were after, it was great to see us putting pressure on the North Island teams as none of the losses were by a large margin. It was clear that everyone learnt something from the tournament and it was a great way to see off the Year 13’s; Junghwi Jo and Lily Fisher.

Quick shout out to Sam Manners (Manager) and Jayden Smith(Coach) for all their hard work and commitment, we couldn’t have done it without you! And thanks to Anna Wetherall (Tournament Manager) for all the support and encouragement during the tournament.
