2017 has been a successful year for Tennis, with six teams competing in the Wednesday after school competition and players competing with credit in the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Championships.

In the Wednesday competition, the Senior Girls team won the Girls A grade: The team consisted of Mirei Yahagi 13OYL, Liza Khorozova 12NDFS, Anna Pryor 13WGK and Julia Newlands 13KJJ.

The Year 9 Girls team also enjoyed success winning the Year 9 A grade competition.

This team was made up of Juliette Ma 9WHRC, Becky Coulson 9SFDC, Amy Coe 9NREM and Honor Cloake 9NREM.

A group of 11 Burnside students competed in the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Championships in March. The best result came from Leonard Brockerhoff 11WJHJ and Robert Pryor 11NWLO who won the Year 11 Boys doubles. These championships were the final appearance for Burnside High School for two Year 13 students, Nishka Shetty 13LSS and Gordon Chen 13WUP. These two players have represented the school for five years at Canterbury, South Island and National Secondary Schools' competitions and have made a major contribution to Tennis at Burnside High School.

Also in March were the Burnside High School Senior Tennis Championships.

Winners this year were: Boys Singles - Gordon Chen 13WUP, Boys Doubles - Sam Collins 13OYL and Liam Reekie 13SFK, Girls Singles - Mirei Yahaga 13OYL, Girls Doubles - Mirei Yahaga 13OYL and Liza Khorozova 12NDFS.

Finally a big thank you to Ms Richards for giving up her time to help with Tennis at Burnside High School this year.
