Canterbury Secondary School's Colts Cricket Festival
Burnside played five games over three days during the Colts Cricket Festival at the end of March. Our boys played four T20s and a 40 over match over three days.
The boys played some great cricket and everyone contributed really well throughout the three days of the festival.
We started off with a great win verses Rangiora High School where we won by 111 runs, however, we backed it up with a loss to St Andrews College by 47 runs.
On Tuesday the Colts had two terrific games, winning by 16 runs over Timaru Boys High School and then beating Christchurch Boys High School by four wickets.
On Wednesday, we played our first 40 over match and won against Lincoln High School by 92 runs. A tremendous result.
Notable mentions were:
Magnus Davidson 48, and Muhammad Haroon, 42 runs with the bat, and a great bowling effort by Lachy Butler with 4 wickets for 7 runs vs Rangiora on the Monday.
Tuesday saw Oscar Colhoun score 50 runs and Alex White made a big impression bowling with 3 for 15 vs Timaru Boys. Muhammad Haroon scored 50 not out against Christchurch Boys High School.
Alex White continued his impressive run with a further 5 for 15 vs Lincoln High School during the 40 over match on Wednesday.
Overall, Burnside placed second in the festival with just the one loss. Muhammad Haroon was the third highest run scorer in the festival. Alex White topped the festival wickets with 12 and close behind in second was Lachy Butler with 10.
Thanks to Steve Cable for preparing the pitch, Kevin List for helping on Monday and behind the scenes, Rozz Guillemot for getting us all ready for the three days.
A tremendous performance from our Colts team of Magnus Davidson (c), Oscar Colhoun, Alexander de Bock, Jack Straker, Ayod Perera, Muhammad Haroon, Sinel Jayasinghe, Shaurya Atri, James White, Lachy Butler, Caleb Varcoe and Alex White.
