Burnside High School PTA presents speaker Pat Buckley: "Teenagers and Drugs" on Thursday 1st August 2019 at 7 pm in the staff room.

Amped master 2018 Rachel Thornton

Pat Buckley from Amped4Life

Pat shares a powerful message about the pernicious hold of addiction that drugs had on his own life and the decisions that nearly ended it in 1995. He then speaks about his journey of recovery and his mission to impact schools with a positive message of hope.

Amped4Life’s objective is to educate, equip and empower young people with the tools and skills they need to make healthy and informed choices for life by “Inspiring Change through Choices"

The PTA is looking for someone to take over the Chair position.

Melanie Russell has resigned as Chair of the PTA and now we are looking for someone to take over this role. The role includes working with a wonderful committee to be a link between the school, parents and whanau.

What does the Chair’s role involve?

· Facilitate the PTA meetings (approx 5 per year)

· Be approachable and welcoming to parents attending meetings.

· Liaise with the school regarding the funding rounds, setting dates and recommending payments

· Attend school graduations

· Speak at the Year 8 welcome evening

· Organise speakers for the PTA meetings

If you are interested or have any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to contact us at pta.burnside@gmail.com
