Senior Theatresports

Anita Okogwu —

This year Theatresports 2017 was definitely interesting.

This being my first year ever doing Theatresports I didn't really know what to expect, but in the end I got a lot more than I had bargained for. Being involved in theatresports this past year has provided me with the opportunity to work and perform with amazing performers that I otherwise would not have be able to.This year I've discovered a whole new world of performing that has taught me how to be flexible and receptive whilst on stage but at the same time has challenged to be bold and confident even in light of my failures.

For the senior theatresports team at Burnside this year was a huge learning curve. As most of us hadn't performed together before and only vaguely knew each other as acquaintances at the start of the year, this year was largely focused on how we as individuals molded together to fit into the best possible team that we could be. The joy for us as a team really came from the craft and learning from our mistakes as a team; discovering our strengths and weaknesses together. Unfortunately this year the senior team did not make it to final heat of the annual theatresports competition however we still learnt so much from the experience of competing as a whole.

Theatresports 2017 has been filled with lessons that we can carry with us for the rest of our lives. However this fun filled year of theatresports is only the beginning and I'm so excited for the next year to come. Until next year thank you to everyone who has participated in Theatresports at Burnside this year and a special thank you to Ms Higginson who has been amazing this year in running and organizing the Senior Theatresports teams.
