Burnside High School Mathematics teacher is awarded the Jim Campbell Award for Teaching Excellence.

Burnside High School is proud to announce that Mr John Wilkes has been awarded the Jim Campbell Award for Teaching Excellence by the New Zealand Association of Mathematics Teachers..

John has taught at Burnside High School for over 40 years. Over that time his knowledge and passion for Mathematics has inspired students and teachers within Burnside High School and beyond.

There are few mathematics teachers that can match his depth in mathematical knowledge and ability.

John has contributed to the wider Mathematics Community through the Canterbury Mathematics Association by his significant contribution to the yearly Cantamath Competition and the Year 12 Mathematics Competition. His amazing questions have also been used for the NZ Senior Mathematics Competition.

This award is well-deserved recognition for a very talented mathematician.
