Burnside High School is proud of E Wen Wong for making the finals of this prestigious competition.

The United Nations Association of New Zealand has held regional secondary school speech awards for over 30 years and the National finals were held in conjunction with  the Annual Conference . This year the National finals were held in Wellington on Friday 21 June. This year's topic was:

'Does our concern for security compromise peace?'

A previous runner up in this competition was our very own Prime Minister Jacinda Adern. This year E Wen Wong  12WTAW qualified to travel to Wellington for the Finals.  The quality of the speeches were outstanding and all took different perspectives on a topic that concerns us all. Although E Wen did not win the competition, to be in the finals was in itself an outstanding achievement.
