Burnside students achieve some weighty results!

The Powerlifting Team: Seb Jamieson (12NMR); Kapil Kumar (12SGL); Sahel Mohammadi (11SHK); Lucas Newman (13CHL); Cameron Pearce (13SFK); Alfie Trafford (11SHK); Jacob Wadley (11SPH); Grace Wakefield (9SOSC); Penny Yang (10NWL) and Zak Yenice (11SBU).

Some of the highlights from the day included:

• All students getting a medal placing in their age/weight groups.
• Personal best lifts for all students in every lift.
• Alfie Trafford (11SHK) nearly breaking the national deadlift record of 180kg
• Zak Yenice (11SBU) deadlifting close to double his bodyweight (120kg)
• Penny Yang (10NWL) stepping out as the first competitor of the day.
• Grace Wakefield (9SOSC) managing to total in all lifts despite only being 13 years old 
• All students have been invited by the federation to come and lift at the South Island champs in May.
