Polyfest

Celebrating Polynesian cultures at Spacpac’s 2018 Polyfest

On March 17th some of our Pasifika girls braved a big stage with an even bigger crowd and showcased an amazing performance. Despite being the smallest group our Burnside girls were one of the only groups that did their entire performance without the assistance of a backing track.

After weeks of hard work, with the help from their tutors, twins Pua and Toa Siulangapo, they walked out onto that stage proud to represent Burnside High School.

The park was full of friends and family watching schools from all secondary schools in the Canterbury region perform. Along with the outstanding performances there were stalls with food from several Polynesian cultures.

Next year we aim to represent Burnside with a bigger group, hopefully with all ethnicities - and some boys getting involved!
