Many talented actors were awarded for their performances

In the weekend of August 7-8 the Drama department took a number of groups to Theatre New Zealand's Theatrefest, a nationwide competition which is open to theatre groups of all ages.

Two of our performances were chosen to go through to the South Island regional finals. 

The first group was from Henry 6th part 3. The cast was Simone Blackie, Lily Reed, Hayden McWha and Jacoeb Uprichard. Hayden received one of three excellence in acting awards. The other two went to experienced adults.

The second team were a group of Y11’s from Chantals class; Sosefina Baice, Jordan Eyre, Stella Archer, Dev Panadya, Freya Moller, Riley Spencer. Sosefina, Stella and Freya also received Merit awards for their acting.

Unfortunately, the regionals and subsequent nationals were cancelled due to lockdown and alert level 2 restrictions.
