Over the past 7 weeks, we have had a small canoe polo team, competing on Wednesday afternoons, at Lake Roto Kohatu.
It has been a tough season, as being one of the only C Grade teams, has meant we regularly played against B Grade teams, who have had many seasons behind them. In addition, our school pool is currently being renovated so we haven’t been able to conduct training sessions.
On the bright side, we have been very fortunate to have had Dr Andy Given join us this season. He has come from Middleton Grange, a school where canoe polo has thrived as a sport for decades. We are also fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming winter league. This will not be an inter-school competition, but rather we will be allocated teams. It will be an excellent opportunity for our players to develop our skills in anticipation for the Term 4 schools league.
If you are interested in playing canoe polo, don’t hesitate to email Mr Carl Johnston (firstname.lastname@example.org) and check out the Mainland Canoe Polo Association website for more information.
