As we reach the middle of Term 2 we have seen increased numbers of students reporting as COVID-19 positive and we now have increased numbers of staff absences due to COVID isolation. We are also finding that as staff return from being COVID positive they are still not well enough to be working.
We were hopeful that we could maintain having all on-site next week, but we continue to be managing increased staff and student absences.
Therefore, next week we will return for one week to a hybrid model of learning. We have amended our model for Wednesday for the full school to be on-site. This gives Seniors and Juniors three days on-site learning.
We anticipate that this will act as a ‘circuit breaker’ and we can be fully on-site again in Week 6 (which is a short week due to Queen's Birthday).
Therefore, next week:
- Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 May – Years 11, 12 and 13 on-site only
- Wednesday 1 June – ALL students on-site
- Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June – Years 9 and 10 on-site only
There will be some seniors that are attending trips and assessments on the junior in-school days – these will still go ahead.
Note: If a Year 9 student needs to be on-site due to their age (under 14) and is a child of a critical worker and there is no supervision available at home, please email their Dean. There will be provision for on-site online learning in the library for these students. This will be for Monday and Tuesday only next week.
We are aware that our constant mask use in school has meant that until now we have been able to manage as COVID cases fluctuate. We are very grateful for your support of our staff and students and your reinforcement of the message about how important masks are.
Thank you for your understanding as we manage through the COVID situation.
