The annual Court Youth company performance took place in September and starred two Burnside High School Drama students, Hayden McWha (graduated 2021) and Mahgen Clark year 13. The play was also performed in traverse, ( which has audiences on both sides of the performance space) adding an extra element of challenge to the young cast.

“Katzenmusik” by Tom Fowler was an ensemble play with a juxtaposed narrative. This smart and relevant play is inspired by young peoples' hope and anger in today’s climate and by Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek’s commentary on the 1730 Paris cat massacre.

Rosie Gilmore - Toi Whakaari graduate and Burnside Drama Alumni 2017 - was the creative genius behind the set, sound, props and lighting design. Thank you to the senior Drama students who supported Mahgen in this performance.
