2020 was another successful year for our Tennis programme, with both seniors and juniors doing well in their age groups at the various competitions they entered.

Canterbury Secondary Schools' Senior Tennis Championships

Burnside High School won two titles at the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Senior Tennis Championships at Wilding Park, from 10-11 February.

The Intermediate Girls Singles was won by Alkmini Giannakogiorgou and the Intermediate Boys Singles was won by Pavle Filipovic. 

Alana Liu and Juliette Ma were Runners-up in the Senior Girls Doubles. Yuki Yoshiyasu won the Division 2 Senior Boys Singles.

Canterbury Secondary Schools' Junior Tennis Championships 

Six Junior Burnside High School Tennis players competed in the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Junior Tennis Championships, played in Christchurch, on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 November.

Special congratulations to EJ Gonzaga who was crowned the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Year 9 Boys Singles Champion. EJ also featured in the Doubles, placing 2nd with Nehan Kuruppu in the Year 9 Boys competition.

Won Jeong Kim also played a strong tournament placing 2nd in the Year 10 Girls Singles Championship and 2nd in the Year 10 Girls Doubles competition with Siri Blackburn.
