On the sand and the court it has been an amazing start to Volleyball in 2021 for the Burnside High School teams.

The Burnside High School Senior A Girls team topped off a fantastic start to the year by winning the New Zealand Secondary Schools Volleyball Championship.  The final was played between Burnside High School and Mt Maunganui College, with both teams giving the spectators a great display of volleyball skills in a very exciting and close match. 

The Senior Girls A team are also Canterbury Champions and holders of the Mainland Trophy, winning both of these competitions earlier in the term.

Both the Senior Boys A team and Senior Girls B team also competed in the NZ Secondary Schools Championships.  Both teams came 13th in their divisions. The Senior Boys A team also came third in Division 1 at the Canterbury Champs, as did the Senior B Girls in Division 2. 

The Burnside High School Boys Senior B, Girls Senior C and Junior Girls teams all competed in the Volleyball South Island Secondary Schools Satellite Championships played here in Christchurch, Tuesday 23 – Thursday 25 March. The Senior Boys B team took out 1st place, only dropping one set on their way to the final. Both of the girl's teams played really well, with the Senior Girls C team placing 2nd in their division.
