FAILING vs FAILURE

Burnside High School —

Helping us all grow from our setbacks. The Burnside High School PTA is excited to welcome multi-award winning teacher and researcher Ekant Veer to our next meeting. All parents/caregivers and students welcome. Monday 5th July 7.30 pm, BHS staffroom

Ekant Veer is a Professor of Marketing and the Director of the Christchurch Knowledge Commons at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch. He is a multi-award winning teacher and researcher having been named in the Top 40 under 40 Business School Professors worldwide; an Ako Aotearoa Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award winner; UC’s Teaching Medal awardee in 2017 and five times winner of the UCSA’s lecturer of the year award. And he’s failed…many, many, many times.

It’s from these failings that the most exciting knowledge is created and we learn the most about ourselves. Failing is good. However, he’s also seen many people around him fail and never recover. Others fail and go on to achieve amazing things.

In this kōrero Ekant will briefly discuss the culture that has been created around failing and feeling like a failure and how best to support our rangatahi to grow from their setbacks and build a culture that encourages failing but not feeling like a failure.
