Burnside Rowing Squad Learn to Row Days a Great Success!

Lesley McLachlan —

Recently the Burnside Rowing Squad hosted two successful Learn to Row days. There was a good turnout of enthusiastic students eager to give rowing a go for the first time.

The Learn to Row days are an excellent opportunity for students to meet the coaches, experience being out on the water in a boat, and learn the basics of rowing. Parents of new rowers also had the chance to connect with parents of returning rowers, creating a welcoming atmosphere of shared support and excitement.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their time on the river, taking full advantage of the opportunity to try rowing in a relaxed and encouraging environment. It was wonderful to see so many young people engaged in the sport and eager to learn.

A special thank you goes to Burnside Rowing’s new sponsor, Harris Farms, for providing delicious sausages and bacon for the barbecue. The tasty food fueled everyone’s energy and contributed to the day’s positive vibe.

Overall, the Give It a Go days were a great success, not only for introducing new students to rowing but also for fostering connections between rowers, parents, and coaches. It was a great way to kick off the rowing season, and we’re excited to see where this new batch of rowers will take the squad!
