Burnside High School compete in the World Scholars Cup Global Round in Auckland.

A fantastic team of 19 scholars from Burnside High School competed in the Global Round of the World Scholars Cup over 7 days in Auckland. There were 300 students competing with top academic teams from 14 countries.

It was a great experience meeting teams from Nepal, Singapore, Cambodia, China, Canada (to name a few) along with amazing teams from Australia and New Zealand.

Students competed in Debating, Collaborative Writing, Scholars Challenge across 6 subject areas -Special Area, History, Social Studies, Science & Technology, Art & Music, Literature & Media and the Scholars Bowl where they are all mixed up!

The theme for 2024 was 'Reimagining the Present'.

As well as the academic competitions students demonstrated their talents in the Scholars Show and met many new friends in the Scavenger Hunt.

Our students were superb ambassadors for our school and achieved at the highest level.

The top Senior Collaborative Writing team placed First overall!

These impressive young ones were competing against much older students.

They have a magnificent trophy along with their gold medals

Miranda Yuan 10WRIC was placed First in Art and Music

She also won a trophy for being placed Third overall across all 6 Academic Disciplines. Miranda teamed up with Miles McGrath 10NJVC and Paige Layton 10SMNO to do well in the teams as well.

Katie Horton 12WMNS was highly placed across all disciplines with particular talents in Debating. She was selected to judge the Debate Showcase for the Debate Finals. Katie teamed up with Katherine Watts 12NSML and Aryan Raut 12SMTJ for  a number of team golds.

Every student won a medal in at least one event.

This was an amazing experience for the students who attended and they all excelled at the highest level.
