Burnside High School Swimming Sports

Sports Office —

Due to the much anticipated refurbishment of the school swimming pool, this event was held at Jellie Park on Wednesday 02 March.

While the move to Jellie Park meant that we were down on our normal numbers and that the relays couldn't be held, it was still a really exciting morning of racing.

The students competed in their year groups in 50m races across 4 different strokes - Freestyle, Breaststroke, Fly and Backstroke.

The morning started with some very tight racing amongst the Junior (Year 9 and 10) swimmers. Some of the finishes came down to the wire, particularly in the Year 10 boy group, where there was literally a finger lengths difference between 1st and 2nd.

The Senior (Years 11, 12 and 13) swimmers joined the Juniors at 10.30am and their racing got underway soon after. There was also some thrilling racing in this age group. The Year 13 boys competition was particularly close with a three way tie for 1st after all 4 events had been swum. The boys swam a 100m Individual Medley to decide the year group winner.
