This year we had 10 students who were picked as finalists in the particular category they were nominated in, and the Awards Dinner at the Hornby Workingmens' Club was a great night to celebrate all the Canterbury Secondary Schools' top sport achievers for 2019.

The 10 student finalists were:

Sang-Yong Park, Jiayi Zhou, Avon Liu - Mixed Table Tennis Team - Most Outstanding Team (Mixed) - HIGHLY COMMENDED

Jasmine Clancy, Amy Weng, Hayato Miya, Yuki Miya - Mixed Golf Team - Most Outstanding Team (Mixed)

Sami Donnelly (Track Cycling) - Most Outstanding Individual Achievement by a young Sportswoman specialising in one sport - WINNER

Jiayi Zhou (Table Tennis) - Most Outstanding Individual Achievement by a young Sportswoman specialising in one sport

Nathan van Slooten (Ice Hockey administrator) - Contribution by a young man as an administrator, umpire, referee or coach - WINNER

James-Paul Mountstevens (Hockey umpire & administrator) - Contribution by a young man as an administrator, umpire, referee or coach - HIGHLY COMMMENDED


The other student nominations placed from Burnside High were:

Diego Quispe-Kim (Tennis - Young Man Specialising in One Sport) and Thomas James (Best All Rounder category).
