Powerlifting 2022

Ruth Knights —

Outstanding results by Burnside High School Powerlifters in 2022.

This year the Burnside High School Powerlifting team had students from year 9 - 13 competing across both weight classes in both male and female youth divisions. The team included Penny Yang (captain) Isabella Bray-Lim, Dev Pandya, Jack Mudu, Sahel Mohammadi, Steven Ye, Callum Maule, Alex Dubery, Alfie Trafford, Jacob Barnes and Tom Hoang. Students have had huge success throughout the year at local, provincial and National Championships.

Highlights included:

Jack Mudu - Canterbury Champs U69 National deadlift record of 178kgs

Penny Yang - South Island Champs best overall female 

Steven Ye - National Champs U62 National deadlift record of 148kg

Callum Maule - National champs U77 National squat record of 165kg, National deadlift record of 190kg, National total record of 455kg.

 Alfie Trafford - National champs U105 total record of 497kg, squat record of 180kg, bench record of 107kg bench press and deadlift record of 210kg.
