Chamber Music
Chamber music is an intensive programme involving members of the Specialist Music Programme who are arranged into purposeful groups to compete in the National Chamber Music Contest.
This year, Burnside proved to be particularly successful with the NZCT Chamber Contest, with the Turner Trio (Phyllis Turner, Pip Goomes, Shirley Liang) being selected for the District Finals, and Quintet Mélodieux (Indiana Bell, Jacob Bates, James Anderson, Portia Bell, Matthew Seinafo), Dring Dong (Anastasia Bell, Tor Chiles, Irene Kim), and Estación (Alan Kao, Juhyeong Kim, Roy Zhang) being chosen for the District Finals and Southern Regional Finals. Dring Dong also received a Highly Commended Award after their Southern Regional Finals performance. Hornithology (Reiss Fatani, Alex Gibson, Isolde Johnson, Aadarsh Roy) also gained the Jody Keehan Award for Most Promising Saxophone Group, another exceptional achievement.
A huge thanks to all the music staff and private tutors who enabled the success of these chamber groups to occur.
