Fantastic results for all Burnside students who competed at the WPNZ national championships this term.
Burnside had eleven students compete over two days alongside sixty other lifters from across New Zealand. Students who competed were: Matthew Summers 10NSMG, Kade Thomson 10WWIC,George Wilkins 10NSYA, Penny Yang 13ABJ, Corban Blackwell 10NSYA, Sean Ding 11SGLS, Bella Donald 12WHRC, Alex Dubery 13KNC, Kevin Ha 13ABJ, Dana Kim 10STNZ and Joe Lewis 9SLWS
Highlights included: Corban Blackwell: Squat 135kg, bench 85kg, deadlift 160kg, 2nd in division and 3rd best male junior lifter overall Joe Lewis: Squat 125kg, bench 75kg, deadlift 140kg and 2nd in division
Kevin Ha: Squat 150kg, bench 85kg, deadlift 205kg and 1st in division Bella Donald: Squat 110kg, bench 70kg, deadlift 150 and 1st in division Alex Dubery: Squat 110kg, Bench 62kg, Deadlift 173kg, 1st in division and NZ deadlift record (U69kg Youth)
Penny Yang: Squat 130kg, bench 62kg, deadlift 120, 1st in division, 3rd best female junior lifter overall and NZ national squat record (U72kg Youth). Penny has also been selected to compete at the WPNZ World championships in Italy this year and recently passed her world powerlifting level 4 referees examination.
