Regional Canterbury Tonga Shakespeare Festival

At the regional Shakespeare competition on Sunday 8th April at Hornby High School, Burnside High School entered three scenes from "The Two gentlemen of Verona", "A Mid Summer nights Dream" and "King Lear". There was a fantastic team atmosphere with support for our performances from not only each other, but friends and family. A number of our cast had never performed in front of a crowd that big. Burnside received awards for the “most effective physical theatre piece”, "the best use of props" and "and most effective moment of tension".Sammi van den Broek was also awarded the best actress of the festival. 

Court Theatre Youth Company

This year after a number of auditions and workshops four of our students have managed to secure places in the Court Theatre Youth Company for 2018. They are Joanna Fan, Felix Elliot, Anita Mapukata, and Conor Hill.
