Biology field trips

Mrs S Porter —

Orana Park visit: Supporting our students learning outside of the classroom - up close and personal with Gorillas!

Y13 Biology students were once again enthralled by the team at Zoo School, Orana Park. Students were able to analyse the impressive collection of Hominin skulls (bipedal apes including humans) and enjoy observing primate behaviour. Also, students found out about some of the relationships different species have with each other in both positive and negative ways, like zombie ants!

Predator Free NZ? Y12 Biology students visited  Lincoln University where the scientist in charge of the Predator Proof Fence research facility showed them the current research being undertaken to help make NZ, pest predator free. Also, a professor from Lincoln gave them a university style lecture about what the future research possibilities could be.
