We had 86 junior players compete in three tournaments during Term 4.

Canterbury Secondary School Junior Tournament

We had eight teams compete in the Canterbury Champs. It was  a great tournament for Burnside with the Junior A girls taking out the title and the Junior A boys narrowly losing their playoff to St Thomas to finish fourth. 

Burnside had three girls and two boys in their respective tournament teams: Cathy Porter, Rosa Vesty and Taylah Holdem (MVP) in the girls, and Ari Leckie and Mark Chang in the boys.

South Island (Mainlands) Junior Tournament

South Island Junior Volleyball Champs was held in Christchurch this year and Burnside had a whopping 5 teams competing! The A girls who were defending champions managed to go back to back! Beating Cashmere 2-0 in the final. This also came with three girls making the tournament team: Cathy Porter, Rosa Vesty and Taylah Holdem with Rosa and Taylah receiving joint MVP.

Beach Volleyball South Island Junior Tournament

Once the indoor competition had concluded the beach volleyball competition was held on the Friday, with over 75 pairs competing form all across the South Island. Burnside had some incredible results! Dublin Boon and Ari Leckie placed third in Y10 boys, Matt Foord and Gerrard Leem took out the boys Y9 competition and Rosa Vesty and Taylah Holdem convincingly took out the girls Y10 division!
