Tennis 2021

Success in an interrupted season.

As with most activities, interschool Tennis had an interrupted year in 2021. A number of events did not take place, but despite this Burnside High School students achieved a number of successes.

Canterbury Senior Championships: These took place at Wilding Park at the start of the year.

Alkmini Giannakogiorgou 12NLOD and Juliette Ma 13JRD won the Senior Girls Doubles title. Alkmini was also runner up in the Senior Girls Singles competition.

Canterbury Junior Championships: These took place in November and Burnside took two titles.

EJ Gonzaga 10SESM won the Year 10 Boys Singles championships, only dropping one game along the way. In the Year 10 Boys Doubles the Burnside team of EJ Gonzaga 10SESM and Khang Nguyen 9SGLS came away with the title.

Wednesday Tennis: These competitions took place in terms one and four. In term one the Burnside Girls A team took out the Premier Girls grade. The team consisted of Alkmini Giannakogiorgou 12NLOD, Juliette Ma 13JRD, Alana Liu 13KJJ, Angela Chen 12WWIC and Sasha Savcenko 10WWAJ.

In term 4 the Girls Junior A team won the Junior Girls grade. The team was Linh Nguyen 10SKNG, Emma Shand 10WLWI, Emma Coe 10NMDT, Haasini Mantena 10WLWI and Sami Beqiri 10SBDW.
