Burnside High School — Nov 18, 2022

Two teams of students from Burnside High School took part in a nationwide programming competition for girls on Thursday 17 November.

This competition was run in both Christchurch and Wellington with local schools being hosted at either the University of Canterbury or Victoria University. Both Burnside teams put in an amazing performance with Amy Jiang and Jessica Rankin's team ending up in 2nd place overall, on equal points with the winners.

Chelini Liyanapathirana and Akhila Sharma were only a few points behind in third place. These girls showed that they can compete with the best in the country and will hopefully go from strength to strength as they gain more experience.

Really well done to all those involved and a big thank you to the University of Canterbury for looking after us and hosting the event this year.
