Canterbury Robotics uses BHS Library as their Base

Katana Dunn —

Since the start of 2022 Canterbury Robotics has used the Burnside High School library as the location for their bi-monthly gatherings.

"This is a great environment as we have space for both VEX VRC and VEX IQ teams to build their robots and also compete" says Katana Dunn, TIC BHS Robotics. The space allows teams from a number of different schools around Canterbury to share ideas about building and game strategies. They compete in alliances of two teams which are often from different schools, fostering collaboration.

Students range from Year 7 to Year 13 and there are currently 8 schools from around Canterbury attending regularly, with more expected to join when the new season starts. There are often 70+ students at these events.

These events are run by volunteers that include teachers, University of Canterbury Engineering and parents.
