Dealing with Omicron

The Government has announced three phases for dealing with the Omicron outbreak at the Red setting, based on numbers of cases rising over time.

So far, New Zealand has been focused on keeping Omicron out of the community for as long as possible while rolling out boosters and vaccinations to children.

However, the Government expects case numbers to grow rapidly and put our health system under considerable pressure, requiring changes to self isolation and testing guidelines. You can read more about its three phases approach here.

There is also comprehensive advice to businesses about testing and returning to work, including the use of rapid antigen tests (RATs) as the outbreak progresses - you can find this here
