Updated Directions to all Clergy, Lay, and Faith Communities

Bishop Steven Benford —

Further to the Prime Minister's announcement this afternoon, all our Church buildings must sadly now be shut until further notice. Please read on for more details.

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ

By temporarily closing our Church buildings as required, we can support each other and our communities in this time.

Church Faith Communities remain operational, but in different forms. We continue to pray for our communities and our world. We are finding new ways to show the love and presence of God at this time.

Attached below is a notice I ask you print out and use on the door of your Church.

The Diocesan office is closed from midnight Wednesday. We are working remotely, please continue to contact us by telephone or email as usual. Details are on the website here.

Regular updates and information will continue to be sent out. Please visit our Covid-19 Community Response page for up to date information and resources.

As Christians we remain a people characterised by hope: hope in the mercy, power and love of God shown to us by Jesus Christ. We are His people and we wait with Him.

With my love and prayers

+Steven

Psalm 131: Song of Quiet Trust

(1) O Lord my ′ heart is · not ′ proud:
my ′ eyes · are not ′ raised too ′ high.
(2) I do not occupy myself with ′ matters · too ′ great for me:
or with ′ marvels · that ′ are be′yond me.
(3) But I have stilled and made quiet my soul,
like a weaned child nestling ′ to its ′ mother:
so like a child, my ′ soul is ′ quieted · with′in me.
(4) O ′ trust · in the ′ Lord:
from ′ this time ′ forth · and for ′ ever.
