Te Pae Oranga: Iwi Community Panels
Are you interested in joining a Panel?
Iwi Community Panels (ICP) are an alternative resolution process for low-level offenders focusing on education, prevention and accountability. Police can refer a participant to the ICP if they are aged 18 years or over and the participant accepts the Police summary of facts.
The service is provided by Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust in partnership with police, local iwi and the wider community.
I have served on this panel for about three years along with some of our distinguished colleagues.
Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust are at present looking for community minded persons to bolster the roster. This is a rewarding service. If you would like some more info a video is available at https://www.police.govt.nz/about-us/maori-police/te-pae-oranga-iwi-community-panels . Or contact Sara at info@cjp.co.nz
