Accreditation Hints for JPs

Graeme Barber —

The Code of Conduct under which we operate requires that Justices of the Peace maintain a working knowledge of their duties, responsibilities, and obligations by regularly attending and participating in education sessions. Accreditation is designed to encourage Justices to keep up to date by participating in ongoing learning.

Once Accredited a Justice of the Peace will have a green  ‘Accredited’ above their name in the ‘Find a JP’ listing on the Royal Federation website.

To become Accredited Justices are required to:

  • Attend a minimum of one hour’s Structured Training every two years. In this context Structured Training means a training session that has been delivered by the Canterbury Association Training Team or Royal Federation Trainer. This can be at one of our training sessions held in Christchurch, Darfield or Amberley.
  • Every two years sit and pass an online Assessment. The Assessment consists of 50 Questions with a pass being 45 answered correctly. This assessment is an open book opportunity so have your Manual handy

The Accreditation package is available on the Royal Federation website.

To access the Accreditation package you will need your Logon details (username and Password). If you do not have these contact Sarah Gillard the Administrator at administrator@jpfed.co.nz

Before attempting the Accreditation test please review your Manual and complete the activities that are included in the Ongoing Education Module that is contained on the Royal Federation website.
