Service Desk Report

Gwen Mitchell —

We urgently need more Justices’ to help us on our service desks. Please, please help. It would involve giving your time for 3 hours once every few weeks working in a warm, safe, neutral environment in one of our libraries where we have our service desks.

Working on a JP service desk provides the opportunity to meet a wide variety of interesting people, handle a variety of documents and keep your skills up to date.

The reason we all became Justices’ was to provide a service to our Community and the public expect us to be available either working on a service desk or at our home.

If you are a Justice who isn’t processing much work but wants to use your valuable skills whilst being supported, put your hand up to work on one of our JP service desks. You will enjoy it.

In time we may have to provide statistics to give a clear picture of “who is” and” who is not “ doing what they were appointed to do. Giving a few hours every few weeks will provide good statistics for you.

If not already accredited we will help you to gain this qualification and provide full support. You will also meet fellow Justices’ making you feel part of the Canterbury Justices’ of the Peace family. A lot of Justices’ are retired and like to travel a lot … this isn’t a problem if you work on a service desk, we can easily organise rosters taking this into account.
