Restraint training... and relievers
As you will know, all registered teachers need to complete the MOE online Restraint Training module by the end of the year. This includes relievers.
We have been in communication with the MOE regarding how a reliever is expected to do this without a school to provide them with an ESL.
The advice from the MOE is this:
For relievers, if a school is not prepared to add them to their ESL, they can contact the teaching council directly to get an ESL account set up. They only need the education learning management system added to their accounts to be able to complete the physical restraint training. Once they complete the training, they can print off a certificate to confirm they have completed it. They do not need to do it for each school.
If you are a school that uses StaffSync, I notice that they have already added a requirement for schools to confirm that they have sighted this certifcate from the reliever.
We have made the call to create ESL logins for our very regular relievers, but for all of the others, I will be sending them to the Teaching Council.
