Bruce James —

Begin Each Day with OPTIMISM

Wow!!! What a busy, but, great start to 2024 we've had. And, like the start of the year, every school day is a fresh start, a chance to set the tone for how you want things to go.

They say starting on the right foot can make all the difference, and it really can. So, why not kick things off with a positive attitude?

Optimism isn't about pretending everything's perfect or ignoring the tough stuff. It's about believing in yourself and your ability to handle whatever school throws your way. It's about seeing challenges as opportunities to learn and grow rather than obstacles to trip you up.

So, when you're woken in the morning, try waking up with a smile and a mindset that says, "I've got this." Instead of dreading the day ahead or stressing about what might go wrong, focus on all the cool stuff you could learn or accomplish. Trust me, it makes a massive difference in how you feel and tackle your classes. But let's be honest – school isn't always smooth sailing.

There will be times when the work piles up or seems difficult, friendships hit rough patches, or you feel like everything's going wrong.

That's where forgiveness comes into play. Ending each school day with forgiveness is like hitting the reset button on any drama or stress. It's about letting go of grudges and giving yourself a fresh start for tomorrow. Holding onto negativity or resentment only weighs you down and makes it harder to enjoy school.

Forgiveness doesn't mean you have to forget what happened or pretend it didn't hurt. It just means letting go of bad feelings and focusing on good ones instead. Trust me, it's a game-changer when it comes to staying happy and sane during the school year.

So, start each school day with a positive attitude, ready to take on whatever comes your way. And end each day with forgiveness, letting go of any drama or stress and making room for peace and happiness. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel – and how much easier it is to tackle whatever school throws at you.

See you all next week!!

WHAT'S NEW??
We welcomed Portia Parmenter into Rūma Kekeno last week and she has fitted in so well. Portia comes to us from Bathgate Park school and we are delighted to have her experience in our Kura.
We also welcome Emily MacGillivray and Sina Briggs to our Kura for 2024 as Learning Assistants. (We are hoping to have some photos of them soon)

10 YEARS!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Emily Scott, our Deputy Board Chair who achieved 10 years serving on our Board at the end of last year. She has been an amazing asset and one of the reasons that the school is currently in such a good place. Thanks so much for your service Emily!

Above is the timetable for swimming which starts from week 3. Look out for the notice from your class teacher with more information.

There are a lot of events coming up this term, Swimming, Beach Day, Leaders' Camp, Ferns Fever, Colour Run, just to name a few, so make sure you keep in touch via HERO and/or the school office.
